I have had so much fun over the past year decorating my sewing room. I have collected so many pretty frames and put my favorite inspirational quotes in them. My other favorite decoration in my sewing room is my tassel garland. This garland is SO easy to make and adds some color and happiness to any room instantly! Below, I have included instructions on how to make this tissue paper tassel garland.
- 12 pieces of different colored tissue paper- 10" by 20" (This size does not need to be exact)
- Scissors or rotary cutter
Step 1: Cut the tissue paper. I started with larger 20 x 20 pieces of tissue paper, so I cut them in half so my pieces were 10 x 20. This does not have to be perfect, it is just an approximate size. Fold the paper in half and align so the folded part is on the top. The two longer sides should be open.
Step 2: Make the fringe. If you have a rotary cutter, it makes this step a lot easier, but you can also do it with scissors. Cut strips approximately a 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide (this doesn't have to be perfect). Stop cutting about one inch from the top fold.
Step 3: Roll the fringe. Open up the cuts and lay the cut tissue paper on the table. Tightly roll the fringe from front to back.
Step 4: Twist the fringe. Now that the fringe is all rolled together, tightly twist the rolled fringe to that the gathered part in the center folds together to create a small loop. It should be a tight twist.
Step 5: Make more pieces with different colors and hang on a piece of string. I hot glued mine to the string so they don't move, but that isn't necessary.
